this Site and the Authors

The purpose of this blog is to provide a forum where we can compare the doctrines and insights of the Restoration with prevailing philosophies in politics, economics, education, science, and religion. As we do so, it will become clear that the doctrines of the Restoration invite us to reconsider some of the assumptions we have about the world. Thus, our primary goal is not necessarily to bring philosophy into Latter-day Saint thought, but rather to contrast revealed truths with the philosophies of the world.

The ideas presented on this site are not endorsed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are solely the opinions and viewpoints of the authors of the posts. We also make no claims to being comprehensive or unbiased (who is?). We intend, however, to post only ideas that are consistent with current teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as we understand them. Unlike other sites of this nature, we will not post anything that is critical of Church leadership or administration, past or present. We will not dissect or critique the teachings of the prophets in any criticizing way; we will only try to understand and apply.

We would ask Latter-day Saints who comment on this blog to respect the teachings of ancient and modern prophets, and to refrain from directly criticizing them or their teachings. We do not ask this because we want to suppress ideas or insights, but rather because we want to maintain an atmosphere of loyalty to God’s spokesmen, present or past. Blogs of this nature often alienate faithful Latter-day Saints because of their criticizing attitude towards Church leadership; we wish to keep this site free of that kind of activity. Accordingly, we reserve the right to delete comments or portions of comments that we feel are critical or disrespectful of the Brethren. This said, we would still invite our readers to feel free to post questions or concerns they may have; we do not wish to dissuade the unconvinced from asking questions out of curiosity or for clarification. Feel free to disagree with us at any time, just so long as you disagreements are directed at us and not at the leadership of the church.
